The city of Cracow is one of the most beautiful cities in Eastern Europe. It is part of the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage Sites and is more than 1000 years old. Poland is proud of Cracow, Cracows rich culture, and the Cracowians. Cracow was chosen as the European Capital of Culture for the year 2000. Cracow is the seat of the second oldest university in Europe, the Jagiellones University, founded in 1364. Cracow is a city of science, almost 100,000 people study at the several dozens of universities, among them are thousands of young people from Western Europe, the US, and other nations.

The famous medical faculty Collegium Medicum trains future dentists, pharmacists, and doctors from other fields of medicine. The city is home to many well-educated people who form the permanent staff of many foreign companies in Poland. Large companies such as the Deutsche Bank, Hypo Vereinsbank, and Motoralo chose Cracow as the site for their principal office. Cracow means also large investments because the German ECE project management company (that bulit e.g. the Commerce Centre in Leipzig) is building, together with the world's greatest developer TismannSpeyer Properties from the US, a new, modern city quarter with many shops, hotels, and office buildings. The investment for this project sums up to almost one billion US dollars.

Even the famous Hollywood film director Steven Spielberg shot a film here. Cracow is a city where you will never get bored. Many concerts, festivals, and other cultural events take place here. You will not only find beautiful sights here like the old city centre, the Jewish quarter, the royal castle Wawel, but also numerous other attractions. There are waiting about 500 restaurants and pubs in the city centre for you. You will have an excellent offer of hotels at your disposal as well as countless shopping malls, and dozens of clubs where you will always be welcome in the evening.

If you love nature, you can do a trip to the nature reserve "Jura krakowsko-czestochowska" where you can experience mother nature, relax, and visit medieval castles. Another interesting excursion is the canoe trip on the river Dunajec, a one-day excursion to Zakopane - the capital of the Polish Tatra, and a visit of the salt mine of Wieliczka near Cracow (www.wieliczka.com.pl). The salt mine of Wieliczka, which is protected as a historical monument, is worldwide the only mine that has been in use since the middle ages til today. All these attractions are offered to you and for relatively little money compared to Western standards.
